E-gold Strategies

From phishing emails to spyware, e-gold accounts are often the target of scammers and hackers alike. Although there is nothing you can do to stop these unfavorable characters wanting your e-gold, there are a number of measures you can take in order to better secure yourself against their attacks. This article will outline the basic manual strategies you can implement, not what security software to buy etc.

One strategy you can adopt is the use of multiple e-gold accounts, and use each one for a specific purpose. For example, you might decide to open three e-gold accounts. You could have one account as a public account which you solely use to interact with your current investment programs ie. depositing and withdrawing funds to and from the programs. You would then have a private e-gold account whose account number remains completely private and only you know about; this is where you would store your funds should you need to. Should you need to store some funds in an e-gold account, you could withdraw funds from your selected investment program into your public account and then simply transfer them to your private account. An additional step that you can take would be to open a third e-gold account. This one you would also keep private and is created in order to split your stored funds into two locations. This way, should one account be hacked, your entire sum is not lost.

When creating multiple accounts, there are a few key rules you should abide by. Make sure you create a different and unique paraphrase for each and every e-gold account you use; if the paraphrase of one account is compromised, all accounts are compromised unless unique paraphrases are in place. You should also create a separate email address for each account. Set the AccSent feature to the highest setting on each e-gold account and do not use email addresses from providers such as Hotmail, Yahoo or Gmail, as they are easily hacked. I would suggest you use an address provided by either Hushmail.com or Safe-mail.net (preferably Hushmail). In the same way you keep your private e-gold account numbers anonymous, it is desirable to use your unique email address only for communication with e-gold (receiving pin codes etc.), and not to use them publicly. Hackers have been known to spoof (the sending of large quantities of useless email messages to an account, like a DDOS attack on an email address) peoples e-gold email address, which in turn blocks that persons access to their account as they are unable to receive their AccSent pin. I'm sure all you Fx-Experts investors are aware of the spoofing phenomenon.

The best strategy to adopt, when dealing with e-gold, is to only store funds for as long as is absolutely necessary. Of course I am referring to larger amounts when I say this (it would be impractical and a relative waste of time with anything under a few thousand), however, you should get your money exchanged and wired into your bank account as soon as you can. Treat e-gold as an exchange service as opposed to something similar to a bank. E-gold is not a good place to store significant amounts of money due to security threats and fluctuations in value, your local bank is always going to be a better option.

I'm sure most of you were aware of the mentioned strategies for e-gold use, however, hopefully some new e-gold users can derive some insight from it.

Good luck everyone.
